Looking Good | Tips & Guides

Being each person has a different personality and body type, everyone is going to have something different that works best for them. But I can give you some tips to keep in mind to make you look your best for your portrait session.

  • First and foremost keep to your style. As these portraits are to represent who you are!

  • You are going to want to keep the seasons in mind when picking out colors, especially for outdoor sessions! Deep rich colors are best in Fall and Bright fun colors work great in Summer.

  • If more than one person will be photographed together (such as a sibling or family session), you will want to coordinate your colors NOT necessarily styles. There is no need to match, find colors that work well together. Just limit how many outfits have prints and patterns as it will get too busy and overwhelming. You are the subject after all, so lets keep the focus on you (not your clothes).

  • Layers and textures can really enhance your portraits. Jackets, cardigans, jewelry, scarfs and hair accessories are a fun way to play up your outfit. These are great ways to tie in the colors of each of the outfits as well.

  • Find outfits that make your feel good about yourself! Being confident in how you look will definitely have an impact, especially in your posture and smile!

All you have left is to figure out the look you want classic, casual, formal or whatever it might be and apply these tips for a complete, polished and cohesive look that is a style all your own!
