The Minnesota Project | October – Zimmerman, MN

Sometimes you don’t have to venture to far from home to appreciate what Minnesota has to offer. Last month, in October, I visited Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge a few times, to enjoy the beautiful fall colors. One of the times I went was with my daughter and a friends daughter that have taken up the interest of photography. We walked through the Mahnomen Trial, where we each had our camera in hand snapping away at the things that caught our eye! The sunset was illuminating the fall colors so vividly.

I love that my daughter has taken an interest in photography! She even bought her own DSLR camera by herself. I look forward to seeing her grow in her talent and skills.

I went back again this time with a friend and we drove through the Prairie’s Edge Wildlife Drive. The nice thing about this path is that you can drive through and stop at different trails along the way, there is so much to explore! One of my favorite things about photographing nature is capturing the details. There is so much beauty in God’s creation! And what amazes me is that things can look so different when up close.

Although I love going in the fall, every season has something special offer when visiting such as the purple blossoms of the wild lupine in early June. If you are ever in the area I definitely recommend stopping by the Sherburne Wildlife Refuge, you won’t be disappointed. What places have you been to? Where would you like me to visit next?
