Still Life | Minnesota Macro Photography

Fall is my favorite season! I love the brisk cool air, the deep rich colors, the warm cozy clothes, absolutely everything! And what better subjects to use than cute little pumpkins and gourds to bring in the fall flavor. I love the challenge of doing still life photography as a way to expand my skills and creativity. It helps me focus on composition and lighting which is a huge part of photography and art in general. With this set I feel the simplicity is what helps play up the beauty of the details in the stems. I find the stems to be quite interesting and unique along with playing with angles and negative space creates interest.
Using a macro lens allows me to focus in on the fine details that would other wise go unnoticed. The contrast of the soft bokeh against the sharp detail gives the picture depth. It’s always fun to play… It helps me learn and grow and most importantly to enjoy the art of photography!
